It’s hard to put into words just how influential Meghan’s fashion choices are to the world. She has recently been the most searched for “Influencer” of 2019. She has been under scrutiny from wearing penchant for a belted shirt dress, to a love of brands from her home country Canada. She surely knows them to carry them well too.

According to one of the detailed report queries, page views and sales metrics across six million fashion products from over 12,000 online stores, alongside the global media coverage and social media mentions generated by the year’s biggest brands and trends.

Royal influence on search and sales will continue to be a prominent force affecting fashion choices. Even The Royal Wedding resulted in internationally ground-breaking sales, websites crashing within minutes, and high street brands frantically beginning to manufacture copycat dress designs with impossibly tight turn arounds.

A source revealed that last year, searches for ‘halter neck dresses’ were up 40 per cent following the royal wedding, while the term ‘halter neck tops’ increased 21 per cent week on week. This was also the first time ever seen for such huge demand for the halter neck. There was on average, a 216% increase in searches for Markel’s stylish ensembles sparked in 2019.

The influence was at all time high and grabbed lots of eye balls , when Meghan Markle and  Prince Harry were on Royal Tour of South Africa she wore five different shirt dresses searches for the category grew 45% over a month.

She has worn several pieces from brands with a focus on sustainability, including a belted shirt dress from Room 502 – which uses ethically sourced materials, production and labour –a black and white dress from Malawi based, fair-trade brand Myamiko  and a long Staud dress made from recycled nylon. Of course, each item sold out in record timing.

“It appears to be quite intentional,” says James Bartle, founder of the Australian-based jeans label Outland Denim. Markle wore a pair of Outland’s Harriet jeans — a high-rise skinny cut from organic cotton and made by a team of women rescued from trafficking in Outland’s ethical factory in Cambodia — during the royal couple’s Australian tour last year.

“The Duchess’ advocacy for human rights and the environment is evident in the brands that she chooses to wear — it’s clear she holds a preference for brands with substance, whose foundations are built upon respect for people and the planet.”
